What is a colonic? Colon irrigation is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine. Filtered, temperature regulated water is introduced into the colon; the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis of the muscles in the colon wall. This procedure takes about 45 minutes to an hour. The major benefit of a colonic is that it relieves constipation and/or excessive gas and bloating, without chemicals or worry when you have to go out. This is also very convenient when preparing your body for medical tests such as sigmoidoscopies or colonoscopies. We offer two different kinds of colon cleansing equipment. One system is termed “open” and the other “closed.” Both systems are FDA approved. Both have disposable rectal nozzles and specula.

We offer two different kinds of colon cleansing equipment.  One system is termed “open” and the other “closed.”  Both systems are FDA approved.  Both have disposable rectal nozzles and specula.

Before a colonic: eat a light meal and have no food or water 1 1/2- 2 hours before procedure.
After a colonic: drink plenty of filtered water, fresh juice and/or soup.  Make your next meal a light meal. That night you might enjoy an Epsom salt bath for extra cleansing.  Do you need to continue on the road to good health?  Your body’s health is largely dependent on what you put into it.  What you eat for food has a great impact on the health of your body.  Try a diet that consists of 80 % good organic vegetables, nuts and some fruits and whole grains.  Follow proper food combining for complete digestion and prevention of gas and bloating.

And finally, get plenty of exercise.  A body that is not moving is slowly dying.  Talk to your doctor.  If you have not been moving your body, walking is a great exercise.  If you are not able to walk, come in and use our Chi Machine.  People who exercise are much healthier than those that do not exercise.  The main reason for this is because you have a heart to pump and circulate the blood – but your lymphatic system depends on body movement – work, exercise and all forms of physical activity to circulate.  Your muscles contracting and relaxing are the naturally designed pumps of our lymphatic systems.  Lymphatic fluids must circulate.  When the lymphatic system is inefficient, waste plasma proteins DO NOT get picked up for removal from the tissues.  Basically, there is a breakdown in your body’s waste removal system.  Use of our Chi Machine stimulates lymphatic flow.

About the OPEN System Session

The initial session begins with the client filling out an intake form which includes a short medical history, dietary and lifestyle habits.  Your therapist will then show you the Colon Therapyequipment and explain the process.  The therapist will then leave the room so that you may undress and put on a hospital gown.  You will then lie down on your back on a molded therapy table where you will lower yourself onto the rectal nozzle which is about the size of a pencil and has been well lubricated for your comfort.  This nozzle is inserted no more than 2-3 inches into the rectum.  We use LIBBE colon hydrotherapy equipment.  You will cover yourself with a sheet and ring the bell for the therapist to return to the room and begin your treatment.
The water for the procedure is filtered through a particulate filter, next through a carbon filter, then a filter with a UV light and lastly, warmed to approximately body temperature for your comfort.  The water will be flowing gently into your colon for the entire procedure.  You will retain the water for as long as it is comfortable and then you simply eliminate as you would if you were sitting on a toilet.  There is no need to worry about expelling the rectal nozzle; whatever material needs to pass will flow right around it and down the drain.
You may or you may not desire the therapist to be with you for the entire procedure.  We prefer to stay that we may perform hands on assessment and either provide or demonstrate to the client how to massage the entire colon to assist in the procedure.  This is an educational opportunity.  We are very enthused when our clients take advantage of this opportunity.  Heated, scented neck wraps, hot/warm stones and various oils are available on request.  If you do not want the therapist to remain with you, she/he will typically check in on you three to four times during your session to make sure all is well and to answer any questions that may arise and to let you know that the session has ended.  The ring for assistance chime button is also located right next to you.  Your therapist is literally only a few seconds away should you require assistance.
You will spend no more than forty-five minutes on the table, but please allow one hour for scheduling purposes.

About the CLOSED system

The initial session begins with the client filling out an intake form which includes a short medical history, dietary and lifestyle habits.  Your therapist will then show you the equipment and explain the process.  The therapist will then leave the room while you undress, put on a hospital gown and lie down on the therapy table and cover yourself with a sheet.
A well-lubed sterile, disposable tube or speculum as it is called, approximately one inch in diameter, will now be inserted about three inches into your rectum.  The speculum is attached to the colonic equipment by disposable hoses that allow the multi- filtered, warmed water to flow into the colon and allow the waste material to flow out.  You are either gently filling with water or you are passing fecal matter out.  These two events cannot happen simultaneously.  It is important to relax and allow elimination without straining or pushing.  We use Dotolo Research closed system hydrotherapy equipment.
During your session the therapist will do a series of fills and releases.  During a fill your colon is gently filled with multi-filtered, warmed water.  This water will soften any old, hardened fecal material and/or impactions, allowing the old fecal matter to be removed during the release part of the cycle, when the water flows out of the colon assisted by your body’s natural peristaltic action (successive contraction and relaxation of the muscles in the colon wall).
Your therapist will give you an abdominal massage during your session, after first manually assessing your colon and checking for hard spots or points of tenderness.  This massage is to encourage you to relax and to breathe deeply.
